FAQ

Will a solar attic fan damage my roof?

A solar attic fan adds one roof penetration. That sounds scary if you have never had roof work done, but every plumbing vent, every furnace flue, and every existing roof vent is also a penetration. Roofs are built to handle them.

The flashing kit we use is heavy gauge aluminum or galvanized steel, sized for the fan housing. The installer cuts the deck, lays the flashing under the upper course of shingles, sets the fan on top, and seals the perimeter with roofing-grade sealant. Done right, that joint sheds water for as long as the roof does.

Where damage happens is when an unlicensed installer cuts the hole too big, skips the flashing, or relies on caulk instead of layered shingles. That is why every install we book goes to a licensed authorized installer, not a handyman.

If the seal ever fails inside the workmanship warranty, the installer comes back and re-seals at no charge. Your roof manufacturer's warranty stays intact because the work was done by a licensed pro.
